Honor Guard Animated Series

Ok so i have been really itching to come up with a green lantern animated series that utilizes all the heroes of Earth GL as a team.

i basically didn't like anything w/ existing lore for a series so i had to sorta take some liberties.

1) The concept of honor guard, restructure it so that a TEAM of lanterns is assigned to a larger group of sectors, sort of like a swat team or w/e. in the case of our sector, Earth's GLs are based in Coast City at GLHG base. it contains a direct teleporter to home base on OA, (i know i know). our guys basically protect our sector and we also help out a few neighboring sectors and lead the collective honor guard on teh big missions, so that individual lanterns can still remain in their sectors unless needed.

2) i changed mad characters for vocal / ethnic diversity.

Guy Gardner, a mean ol Aussie rugby player and all around obnoxious, vulgur, fun loving gerard butler type, if gerard butler and Jim Jeffries had a child. i want him big, mean, funny, and dropping one liners to relieve tension and smooth scene transitions. he's basically a charismatic Kasie Jones from ninja turtles.

Kyle Rayner, Japanese/American designer/artist. i really felt like kyle always should have been asian, he never felt right as an american to me since the rest were anyway, so having him be an asian american solves a lot of issue for me, and the obvious cultural stereotypes of martial arts allow for some more character/culturally unique manifestations with his power. he's witty, upbeat, and somewhat overdramatic but not to a wally west degree.

Jon Stewart, very similar to his JLU character, meloncholly, brooding, big dude. NYC all the way, former Military ground forces he is precise, low key and a VERY good shot. uses more pulse oriented blasts than clubbing action.

Hal, hal is hal, u can't really change him HOWEVER because he is a MODERN pilot, he's shorter, 5'9ish to be more fitting his duty, and his speech pattern is the most straight forward. he is the leader and the most conflicted as per usual hal.


Sinestro, once the GL Prime and 2nd only to the guardians, he all but destroyed the corps from within and has since formed his own corps with the yellow power source converted to a power battery similar to that of Oa. for purposes of this story that planet is unknown to the lanterns and his members fluctuate minus a few core comical villain characters. he is very calm and soft spoken, pure evil, meglomaniac, but when he loses his temper he is a screaming menace, basically Rufus Sewell would be my dream voice for him. (though i met victor garber and he rules in First Flight).

i plan to draw all these dudes in more appropriate poses and stuff but i just HAD to get teh idea down in a hurry before i lost it, so i found this great DCUA generator that u can mess with its lost of fun though extremely limited. i had to do bases from that program and then add and touch up in photoshop, but it gets the idea across.

the biggest costume change was Kyle and Guy, i never really liked any of kyles costumes, nor did i like the adoption of white gloves with him, so i sorta took his honor guard costume and revamped it appropriately. guy i felt the symbol on his jacket was just a horrible decision, i feel like his suite would just not suit him, so he would either get himself a vest or use ring power to manifest one to be more fitting his personality, im still iffy on which.

jon's modern costume is just perfect really, i wanted green boots but beyond that he's the man. hal has a sort of honor guard type costume like kyles new one, but with his centered symbol, i DO NOT like his rebirth costume.

i realize some of you GL fans out there may not dig any of this but as a huge animation fan i must say i would love watching this and i think the changes i made would provide a great diversity both vocally and character interaction wise.
