Bane Knightfall Mask WIP 1

This is the progress of my bane mask. its actually really hard to do this without a head sculpt to build on, sadly i have to put the mask on and TACK it on with spots of gorilla glue for ideas where the damn stuff goes, and hold my breath so fumes dont knock me out or make me sick. then i take it off and strech it and try to hot glue it down after the fact. very annoying.

anyway, basic white craft foam, i cut a pattern i made in photoshop and threw it in teh oven to heat it up, then layed it on my face to get the foam to move a little bit. i made the pattern excessively long so i can cut the excess off after the fact, u'll notice it hangs long.

the mask is a zentai lycra hood that resembles leather, but its just stretchy and shiny, gives a good look. for 3 dollars on ebay its not too bad at all. i ordered one with NO preexisting cut outs, so im all locked up in that thing and i can't see or breath. i had to blind tack the tops of the eyes first just to get a frame of reference to cut the eyes out.

considering im doing this with no idea how to accomplish it, its actually going surprisingly well, it will definitely be passible and wearable.

issue 1: no texture to teh foam, i may change that with the hot glue gun tip when its done for some eye structure or something, maybe dremel some shape i dunno yet.

issue 2: can't friggin breath. wanna keep traditional mouth covered but have to vent it in some fashion, or i'll pass out, gotta get air in there.

after its all attached and stuff, i'll reshape it with heat again to smooth it out some and then worry about a venting pattern.

for a first home made attempt for a total of less than 10 bucks this is going well, but i want a really high quality lucha mask at some point of bane and i may just end up settling for purchasing what elucha has. not what i want but i am left with little choice as my skills w/ spandex suck as usual.
