Angels' Paradox Cover

This is the artwork for Soul Incision's soon to be offered Album, at the moment Titled after the track Angel's Paradox. I am pretty tight w/ those guys and when Geoff saw my work for To Rise or To Fall, he wanted a mod.

he basically wanted the same pic but the bodies flipped in the worlds and more of a 'collision' where the worlds meet.

seeing as how this is not an artistic message or vision, i had total freedom to use as much 'coolness' as i wanted.

Don used to always tell me durring the course of my degree "an artist can never say 'cuz it looks cool' as a reason for creation" and i agree with that. For Real Art, an artist doesn't have that luxury, it must be created from a need.

however, with commercial art, sometimes 'it looks cool' works just fine and i do so love things that look cool, so i immediately put the concept from my prior piece on Steroids of coolness.

instead of a fallen angel, full on demon with dragon wings (yes i made those without 'wing brushes' used stone texture and bat wings for reference. and yes making translucent wings SUX! will be some time before i do that again)

i added hair cheese, black for the demon, blonde for the angel. and a white wing of feathers for the angel, more cheese. i did a new blue sky rather than a multi color sky because i wanted this to be DUMB simple.

the merger of the bodies is actually 3 bodies blended to smooth the transition.

the tattoo on the chest is the official Soul Incision logo i created for them, and is copyrighted and cannot be used for anything else, sorry.

we are still workin on tweaking the logos and stuff but i'll replace this with that when i get it done.

the reason for the flop, is the lyrics of the song. the angels are devious and evil, the demons are virtuous and good, and you cannot judge by looks, only intentions, similar to holy diver's theme. so the best way to convey true intent is the world they live in.

the reason i made it one body is because the over all conveying image is the struggle each of us have to make good choices and bad choices and how either can have opposing consequences, (ie do good things and suffer, or do bad things and be happy) its just life man. so one man embodying both issues shows how we all have that dichotomy within us.

this is, regardless of whatever other work i do for them, the last piece i post rooted in TO RISE OR TO FALL, if u want more..i dunno buy the album i guess.
